Coventry Sphinx Ladies have lost two players within the space of a five days after it was announced Laura Stevenson would leave the club.
This news comes after Faye Birch and joint manager Mark Cope left the West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League Division 1 South outfit, with the latter stating the situation was ““beyond my control”.
Stevenson has played nine games for Sphinx this season
Stevenson, who has made nine league appearances this season, temporarily leaves to go travelling around the world. She is expected to re-don the blue and white colours when she returns from her adventures.
The club stated on their official twitter page:
“Laura has been a fantastic player for the ladies, with a great attitude on and off the pitch.”
“Laura will be deeply missed but we can’t wait for her return back after her travels!”
Sport in Cov wishes Laura safe journeys and many happy travels for her time away from the football pitch
Sphinx Ladies’ game with Gornal was postponed on Sunday meaning have not been in action since 3rd December. All eyes will be on the side to see how they will react to these loses when they take on Rugby Town away from home next weekend.
